Following statements made by the CMO of T-Mobile that the mobile service provider will not be offering the iPhone 5 of Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) within this year, observers have started to focus on Sprint as speculations have started on the possibility that it will offer the latest version of the iPhone along with AT&T (NYSE:T) and Verizon (NYSE:VZ).
Recent reports have pointed to an October launch of the iPhone 5 into the market as a number of users are currently waiting for an official confirmation on the reported introduction schedule.
Even as no confirmations were made yet by Sprint on whether it will offer the iPhone 5 within the year, the inclusion of the smartphone in the upcoming offerings of T-Mobile was denied by the mobile service provider. Observers have also noted that Sprint has apparently remained silent on the issue of the iPhone 5.
Observers have indicated that even though the CEO of Sprint has not discussed it directly, the iPhone 5 appears to be a part of the future business of the company. The report indicated that clients are stirred up due to the iPhone.
The CEO of the mobile service provider also indicated during an investor conference at Goldman Sachs that it will not discuss the iPhone 5 although it will make the necessary adjustments if it will be offered by the company.
Since recent reports have pointed to an October 4 launch of the iPhone 5, speculations on the possible offering of the latest version of the iPhone may be concluded soon enough.
As this developed, reports have revealed that Sprint will implement data caps on the hotspot add-on for the plans of the mobile service provider which comes prior to the release of the iPhone 5 into the market. The limit will reportedly be 5GB and a $0.05 charge for every MB that goes beyond the 5GB limit for both the 3G and the 4G data used through the hotspot feature of the plans.
This is reportedly similar to the data caps implemented by both AT&T and Verizon in connection to the usage of iPhone owners of their respective networks. AT&T implemented caps following the slowdown in the network due to the users of the Apple iPhone. On the other hand Verizon set caps during the time the iPhone of Verizon entered the market.
Observers have indicated that although the data cap was not for the main data plans of the company, it does not automatically mean that it will not be done. The iPhone 5 will reportedly be launched by Apple during a special even that is scheduled on October 4. Tim Cook will reportedly unveil the iPhone 5 during the event.
