UK Release of Sony Xperia U Through Three

Sony Xperia U was initially anticipated to be released near the start of May and recent reports have indicated that the dual-core smartphone from Sony (NYSE:SNE) was released recently in the UK market through Three. The smartphone can be purchased by customers online or through different mobile retail shops. The Sony Xperia U is available with a service contract or on Pay As You Go at around $268 through the UK mobile service provider. 

In addition to Three, other major networks in the United Kingdom will also be offering the 3.-5 inch smartphone from Sony. A pre-order page was also set-up by another retailer for the Sony Xperia U, which will be delivered to buyers in the coming week.

The Sony Xperia U is considered as reasonably-priced alternative to the higher-end versions of the Xperia line of smartphones of Sony. The 3.5-inch screen display of the device is smaller compared to the Sony Xperia S, which is considered as the bigger brother of the Sony Xperia U.

Although it is much cheaper than the other devices in the Xperia line of Sony, it still offers some features that may appeal to consumers. The Sony Xperia U features the transparent strip of Sony at the bottom that lights up in varying colors depending on the activity on the display screen.

The plastic caps of the Sony Xperia U are also changeable to allow users to change it according to their respective tastes.

The Sony Xperia U also features a dual-core 1GHz processor, 4GB internal storage, 5MP camera at the back and a VGA camera in front.  The device will use the Gingerbread Android OS although Sony has revealed that it will be releasing the Android 4.0 update for the device within the year.

The Sony Xperia U may have to deal with a number of bigger and more high-end devices that are set to be released into the market although its price tag and notable features may make it appealing to more budget-conscious consumers.
