The Panasonic Eluga is the first Android-powered smartphone of Panasonic to be offered in the UK market. The device features a 4.3-inch OLED qHD screen display with a 960 by 540 resolution, dual-core 1GHz processor, 1GB RAM, and an 8GB internal memory. The Panasonic Eluga also features an eight-megapixel camera, NFC support and will use the Gingerbread Android OS although it appears that the device may be receiving the Android 4.0 update next month. The main feature that the Panasonic Eluga will appeal to potential customers is the fact that it is waterproof.
The device was supposedly scheduled to be released in the market next week and its recent posting on Expansys was welcomed by industry watchers. The Panasonic Eluga may be offered by a mobile service provider sometime in the future although for the moment it is being offered as a SIM-free device and potential buyers have the choice in the deal that they may want to take advantage of when purchasing the device.
For the moment it remains uncertain on when the Panasonic Eluga Power will be offered into the market since it will reportedly come with the Android 4.0 and a better processor out of the box. Industry watchers are expecting the Eluga Power to be released into the market within the year.
Even as the Panasonic Eluga has been made available in the UK market, it remains uncertain as to when it will be released into the US market.
