The silver coins are the first ever Canadian niobium bimetallic coins, which use pure niobium in combination with silver to create the effect of rising moon against the image of a buck deer, a hunter, a wolf and pink flowers in the various coins. These Canadian Niobium Full Moon silver Coins were designed by the renowned Canadian artist, John Mantha.

The Buck Moon Deer Silver proof coin is the first of the Niobium Full Moons silver coins from the Native American series and has an extremely low mintage of just 7,500. The Buck Moon Deer Silver proof has a $5 face value, weighs 8.50 g with a diameter of 38.00 mm and is composed of pure niobium combined with .925 fine sterling silver.

Historic records from ancient times show that the cycles of the moon as in its waning, waxing, disappearance and presence in the sky, all marked the passage of seasons and periods of time, influencing all forms of life - human, animal and plant life. North American tribes like the Algonquin tribes followed the lunar cycle and they assigned names to every full moon cycle. The full moon during the peak of summer in July was called the summer moon or thunder moon or the commonly used name was the buck moon. During this period the North American wilderness witnessed the phenomenon of buck deer growing new antlers. The Buck Moon Deer silver proof from this Native American Niobium Full Moons Coin is a tribute to lifestyles in that ancient world.
