Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) recently announced that the upcoming Windows 8 operating system will be released in three versions, a move that a number of users would welcome. The three versions of the Windows 8 OS are for home use, for business use, and for devices using ARM processors. Most consumers would only have to choose from the home use and the business use versions of the operating system.
A prediction from the Gartner Group indicated that the market share of Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) in the tablet market will only reach four percent for 2012. This comes as the Windows 8 OS is set to be released by the software giant soon.
It appears that the future Windows 8 tablets may have displays with resolutions that may be better compared to that of the new iPad of Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL). In a Building Windows 8 blog of Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), Steven Sinofsky talked about tablets that will feature a minimum DPI or dots-per-inch densities of 135, which is better compared to most of the tablets that are currently in the market.
It seems that the latest operating system of Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) may be ready for release to manufacturers by summer. This may indicate that the Windows 8 OS will be ready to be launch before the Christmas holidays. Work on the Windows 8 OS will reportedly be finalized by summer which would indicate that the upcoming OS of the software giant may be released into the market by October.
