
Chuck Tanner, the former manager of the 1979 World Series Champion Pittsburgh Pirates and later on with the Atlanta Braves, has passed away. He was 82. Chuck Tanner died at his home in New Castle, Pennsylvania. Chuck Tanner was also credited with breaking in AL Cy Young Award Winner Wilbur Wood into the Majors and the person who turned Hall of Famer Goose Gossage into the closer that he would become.
