Nokia Wins Against Apple, Files Lawsuits Against HTC, RIM, Viewsonic

After winning the patent-infringement case against Apple, Nokia alleges that some of the manufacturers are not paying for using its patents for their technologies. Therefore, last May 2, Nokia filed cases against HTC, Research In Motion, and Viewsonic on infringing 45 of its patents.

HTC Corp denies their alleged breach in the patent owned by the Finnish mobile manufacturing company, Nokia Corp. According to the Taiwanese corporation, it had permission to the wireless technology of Nokia since 2003. This reply from the company based on Taoyuan came the day after Nokia files its claims against HTC, Viewsonic Corp and RIM in United States and Germany. HTC shares have decreased at 4.34 % in the Taiwan Stock Exchange just recently.

HTC and Nokia Win Against IPCom Over Patent Lawsuit

Nokia, a company from Finland, and HTC from Taiwan both won a major European ruling claiming German company IPCom’s patent was invalid in its present form. The patent reportedly threatened the sales of Nokia and HTC’s devices in Germany. Last Wednesday, the European Patent Office made a ruling that is pro Nokia because the company is having a difficult time with declining credit rating and lowering sales in the past few weeks.

Samsung, Asia’s number one mobile manufacturing company seems to have overtaken Nokia as the world’s number one device maker in the industry. All this was made possible by the Galaxy line of the South Korean phone maker. According to Bloomberg News, in the beginning of the quarter, Samsung has packed and delivered more or less 92 million phones comprising of both advanced phones and low-tech phones.
