Reports about an Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad mini have emerged in recent weeks and it appears that some consumers are considering the purchase of the device if it becomes available in the market. A recent survey made by PriceGrabber saw around 52 percent of 2,603 online shoppers in the US will likely purchase a seven-inch iPad mini that has a price tag that ranges from $249 up to $300.
The respondents who responded positively had different reason for wanting to acquire an iPad mini. This also shows that 48 percent are not likely to acquire an iPad mini. Around 22 percent of the respondents are current owners of tablet devices whit 68 percent of these owning an iPad and 10 percent owning the Amazon Kindle Fire.
The lower price of an iPad mini was the reason for 64 percent of the respondents indicated that they may purchase the device while 54 percent indicated that its portability was the main reason for wanting to acquire the device. Around 25 percent have indicated that they would give the device as a gift while others want it for their work.
Some of the respondents merely love Apple products, which is the main reason why they would opt to acquire an iPad mini. Around 84 percent of the respondents have indicated that a low price is the most important feature of an iPad mini while 65 percent considered 3G connectivity as more important. Around 60 percent have indicated that a slim design and smaller body is an important feature that they want for the device. Apple has not issued any statements in connection to reports about an iPad mini even as the late Steve Jobs had indicated that the reasons for a seven-inch tablet were limited. However the current head of Apple, Tim Cook, has given indications that the company may move out of the shadows of its previous head. The most recent reports have pointed to the release of six million units of the iPad mini by the third quarter of the year. These devices will reportedly have a price range of $249 up to around $299.
