The Samsung Series 5 Ultra is a reasonably-priced ultrabook for consumers who may find the price tag of the Series 9 ultrabook from Samsung quite prohibitive. The Series 9 was initially introduced by Samsung last year, however it was more expensive compared to the MacBook Air of Apple and another version of the device is set to be offered for 2012.

The Samsung Series 5 Ultra is offered at 13-inch and 14-inch models with a price tag that starts at around $899. The ultrabook is slightly thicker compared to the Samsung Series 9 and looks like a slimmer version of the Series 7 Chronos of Samsung.

The Samsung Series 5 Ultra features a sleek metallic body that weighs less than four pounds and has a thickness of less than one inch. Similar to the Samsung Series 7 and the Samsung Series 9, the Samsung Series 5 Ultra features a matte display with a resolution of 1600 by 900. The display of the device also features the SuperBright technology which offers a similar display to the Samsung Series 7 although it may not be as good as that of the Series 9 ultrabook.

The Samsung Series 5 also features a number of full-sized ports including Ethernet, HDMI, port and an SD memory card slot while the box includes the mini-VGA dongle. One distinctive feature of the 14-inch model of the Samsung Series 5 Ultra that some observers have noted is the presence of an optical drive.

The Samsung Series 5 Ultra also offers some storage options for consumers, a 128GB SSD or a 500GB SATA HDD. The device also features an ExpressCache memory of 16GB. A similar hybrid hard drive was also used on the Aspire S3 of Acer

Although the Samsung Series 5 Ultra appears to be an outstanding ultrabook, some observers have noted that it may not be a next generation ultrabook especially with the press conference of Intel and the information about the Ivy Bridge processors. However if consumers would want to acquire the Samsung Series 5 Ultra, it is set to be released within the month.
