Samsung High Profit Due to Galaxy S2

According to Samsung, the electronics giant from Korea, their successful quarter is due to the high sales of two of their Galaxy produtcs, the Galaxy S2 and the Galaxy Note. Highly praised by critics and the public, Samsung Galaxy S2 is certainly the flagship among other Android devices. In fact, TechRadar gave the smartphone in its review an exceptional five-star.

Moreover, its success has caused much excitement for the next smartphone in the series, the Samsung Galaxy S3. Together with smartphone-tablet Galaxy Note, the Galaxy S3 has greatly affected the finances of Samsung. Because of this, both devices were name-checked in the international income statement of Samsung.

Samsung said that the company's strong performance during the previous quarter was because of the IT & Mobile Communications department. This department consists of four divisions, specifically Telecommunication Systems, Mobile Communications, Digital Imaging and IT Solutions.

In addition, Samsung said that some of the factors that affected the profitability of the company are the continuous growth of the Mobile Communications segment, together with the high sales of the Galaxy note and the Samsung Galaxy S2.

From the months of January to March, Samsung's consolidated net profit adds up to 5.05 trillion won, which is equal to approximately 2.75 billion Euros or 4.45 billion US dollars.

Samsung's semiconductor division was a bit of a surprise. However, phones and display panels gave the company revenue of roughly 45.27 trillion won, which is equal to 24.6 billion Euros or almost 40 billion US dollars.

According to Robert Yi, the Senior VP and Head of Investor Relations of Samsung, the company had a successful quarter because of their leadership in various devices and technology, in spite of seasonal weak demand for devices like personal computers and television along with a worldwide economic slowdown. Yi added that the company estimates their revenues to further go up since there is improved competitiveness in their different segments.
