Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 Attempts to Surpass the Success of the IPad

Samsung Electronics Co., the biggest rival of Apple in its iPad market, is improving its tablet line to offer a feature that allows its Galaxy Tab to function as an entertainment center's universal remote control. Moreover, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 will have an expandable storage with the help of mini memory cards.
Samsung's tablets will be available in two dimensions which are 7 inches and 10 inches. The former will be available on April 22 for $250 while the latter will be available on May 13 for $400.
The competitors of Apple are experimenting on several tablet features and sizes in an attempt to beat the top selling iPad. Recently, Toshiba Corp launched a tablet with a screen that resembles the size of a laptop in its 13-inch tab. The screen size of Apple's iPad is 9.7 inches when measured diagonally.

According to IDC, one of the research firms, the sales of the iPad consisted around 60% of the total number of tablets sold during the past year.
Amazon.com Inc. is the closest competitor of Apple in the tablet market. However, its Kindle Fire one-half smaller than the iPad's size for a price that is lower by more than 50% compared to Apple's tablet that is why it is placed in a different category. Among the many producers of tablets that are similarly sized to the iPad, Samsung has the biggest share.
The memory of the iPad is not expandable. It also does not have the infrared diode that allows Samsung's tablet to operate a cable box or television set. What it has instead for its main feature is its screen with very high resolution.
The recent models of Samsung tablets will not have screens with higher resolutions although analysts think that Samsung is one of the suppliers of the screen of the recently released Apple tablet known as the new iPad.
