Sales of Samsung Galaxy S3 May Reach Ten Million

Samsung revealed recently that global sales for the Samsung Galaxy S3 are expected to exceed the ten million mark by July. This comes as shortages of components have resulted to some issues in meeting the demand for the smartphone. According to the mobile communications business president of Samsung, Shih Jong-kyun, the company is working on meeting the demand for the device.

Speculations have emerged on lower smartphone sales for the second quarter following the failure of the company in acquiring enough components for the device. However Shih indicated that the supply problems will be resolved in the coming week.

Despite the economic crisis affecting Europe and issues in the supply of the components for the Samsung Galaxy S3, Shih indicated that earnings for the second quarter will be higher compared to the first quarter. The Samsung Galaxy S3 was released in Europe on May 29 and entered the US market recently.

The projections of Samsung show the increased demand among mobile service providers.

Samsung also revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S3 will become available in around 147 countries through 300 carriers by July as it aims to get the edge over the upcoming model of the iPhone of Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL). The latest Samsung flagship smartphone is slimmer and lighter compared to previous versions of the smartphone as well as the iPhone 4S of Apple.

Samsung Galaxy S3The Samsung Galaxy S3 also comes with numerous features such as an eye-recognition technology and voice command functions.

The near field communication feature on the Samsung Galaxy S3 also offers users the capability of sharing multimedia content with other Samsung Galaxy S3 users. However some of the features offered by Samsung would overlap the features offered through the Android OS of Google (NASDAQ:GOOG).

Shih also indicated that the company is investigating the reported explosion of a Samsung Galaxy S3 unit in Ireland although he indicated that the battery was not the reason for the explosion. Samsung became the biggest mobile phone manufacturer in 2011 as it went past Nokia in the list.

Apple is currently the main rival of Samsung in the market for the title of the top smartphone manufacturer in the world.
