The most recent reports about the Xbox 720 of Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) have indicated that production of the upcoming game console has already started in Texas. These reports were supposedly disclosed by unnamed sources. The manufacture and the testing of the supposed Xbox 720 will be handled by Flextronics, which is the company that manufactured the first version of the Xbox and the Xbox 360. The company was also responsible for producing the Zune digital media player of Microsoft.
Although reports have hinted at a December launch of the supposed Xbox 720, it appears that the year may end without seeing the upcoming Xbox 720 entering the market. The Xbox 720 units that are being manufactured are likely development kits that will be used to allow game designers to be more familiar with the consoles that they will be working on.

Microsoft had earlier indicated that the upcoming game console will not be unveiled during the E3 event, which indicates that the reported production of the device is not meant to be launched by the company during the upcoming event. Microsoft has also indicated that the console that is currently being manufactured is simply a simmer version of the current Xbox 360 and is not the Xbox 720.
The introduction of new features for the Xbox 360 has allowed the life cycle of the game console to be extended by the company. The console was also reinvented aside from being given a new dashboard and additional partners for entertainment. Microsoft has indicated that it is constantly working on something new for the platform to allow it to extend its life cycle.
Earlier reports have hinted that it will be necessary to remain connected to the internet when using the upcoming Xbox 720 in order to reduce piracy. Reports have also suggested that the upcoming Xbox 720 may also come with a 3D feature as indicated in a previous job posting.
