Although it is still uncertain if the next version of the iPhone of Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) will be dubbed as the iPhone 5 or simply the new iPhone, similar to the way the latest version of the iPad was given its name, reports have started to pile up in connection to this upcoming product offering of the company.
A number of industry watchers are hoping for an earlier release of the iPhone 5 but the iPhone 4S may set the new schedule for the release of these devices. This suggests a summer release of the iPhone 5 or sometime in fall.
However a recent report has pointed to June 15 as the possible launch date of the iPhone 5. This is reportedly the last day for the WWDC 2012, where the iPhone and iOS are typically introduced by the company. But observers still have some doubts on the introduction of the iPhone 5 during the event.
Even though the June 11 to June 15 schedule was already booked, it only hints at a conference meeting instead of an Apple event. However some observers have speculated that this will likely be the schedule for the WWDC 2012.
Aside from the iPhone 5 of Apple, the company will reportedly launch the iOS 6 during the same event. The iOS 6 launch is more believable for a number of industry watchers since it is the typical launch schedule of the iOS. During the WWDC 2011, the iOS 5 was unveiled by the company even as the iPhone 4S was launched later on.
The source of the report on the possible launch date of the iPhone 5 was reportedly based in Asia. The said sources supposedly revealed the plans of the company for June last November.
For the moment industry watchers will continue to with their wait-and-see stance until the company will finally announce the launch of the iPhone 5.
