Samsung recently unveiled the Exynos 4 Quad processor that will be used on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3. The Samsung Galaxy S3 is anticipated to be launched by Samsung during an event scheduled to be held in London on May 3. Although the official name of the device has yet to be revealed by the South Korean company, reports have dubbed the upcoming device as the Samsung Galaxy S3.
The recently-unveiled processor will be designed for heavy applications including video editing and 3D gaming. The Exynos 4 Quad processor also has a video hardware codec engine that is designed for 1080p playback and video recording.
The chip for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3 integrates four processor cores and is produced using the 32nm manufacturing process of the company. The company revealed that the Exynos 4 Quad features speeds of at least 1.4GHz
The new chip is reportedly designed for use on smartphones and tablets although it will be used initially for the upcoming Galaxy smartphone of Samsung. This was revealed recently by Samsung.
The Exynos 4 Quad will also come with power-saving features which will allow it to have a high processing capability despite using less power. This shows that the company took battery life into consideration for the processor on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3.
The processor will be able to turn off cores whenever the extra power is unnecessary. Offering a quad-core processor is among the enhancements that the Samsung Galaxy S3 offers in comparison to its predecessor, which only features a dual-core processor. The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3 will feature a 4.6-inch screen display with a resolution of 1280 x 720, and eight-megapixel camera, and LTE network support for some areas in the world.
The Exynos 4 Quad of Samsung Galaxy S3 is reportedly being made available by Samsung for other major handset manufacturers although it may be limited to smaller numbers.
