Pre-Orders for Samsung Galaxy S3 Reach Nine Million

Pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy S3 have reportedly reached the nine million mark according to a report on the Koran Economic Daily. The total number of pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy reflected orders from over 100 mobile service providers around the world. The successor to the Samsung Galaxy S2 was introduced by Samsung at the start of the month and is expected to be available in the market in Europe by May 29.

The US version of the Samsung Galaxy S3, which is optimized for 4G LTE networks, is expected to be released by summer. Production of the Samsung Galaxy S3 is already in full swing in South Korea as around five million units of the smartphone are reportedly being produced every month. However no statements were released by Samsung in connection to the reported pre-order figures for the Samsung Galaxy S3.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 offers a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED screen that features a resolution of 1280 x 720 and uses the latest version of the Android OS, the Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0. The recently-unveiled Samsung smartphone also features an 8MP camera at the back along with a 1.9MP front-facing camera.

The Samsung Galaxy SIII also allows user to take a 20-shot burst when taking pictures with the best eight images selected automatically by the Best Photo feature of the device.

Samsung became the biggest cell phone manufacturer in the world after it was able to deliver around 92 million units last quarter. Sales of the Samsung Galaxy S2 reportedly reached around 20 million units according to a statement made by Samsung last February.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is considered as the next big thing for the South Korean company although reports have revealed that Samsung may be releasing a number of other devices in the future basing on trademark applications submitted by the company with the US Patent and Trademark Office.
