Pre-Orders for LG Smart TV Accepted in China

Pre-orders in China for the Lenovo smart TV will be accepted starting April 10 as the company aims to test the market for the product in its own market. The announcement of the acceptance of pre-orders by Lenovo (HKG:0992) was made through a Chinese-language site that the company had set up recently. The upcoming Lenovo smart TV will have four models with a screen size of 42 inches and 55 inches.

The K71 42-inch model will be available by the end of the month with a price tag of around $1,029 while the release dates and price tag of the other models will be announced later. The Lenovo smart TV was launched by the company during the Consumer Electronics Show and will use the latest Android 4.0 OS.

The use of the Android 4.0 OS will allow the Lenovo smart TV to run mobile applications. The Lenovo smart TV will also feature a dual-core processor and will have the capability of recognizing voice commands. Three models of the device will also come with a flicker-free 3D technology.

The Lenovo Cloud Storage system was unveiled by the company last month that will offer auto-synching to the personal files of users with PCs and mobile devices. The Lenovo smart TV will be launched to allow the bridging of different mobile devices to the television using the cloud computing service of the company

Aside from Lenovo, Samsung already has its own smart TV in the market while Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is also expected to release its own television offering.

According to Yang Yuanqing, CEO of Lenovo, the company does not expect much from the sales of the Lenovo smart TV since it aims to test the market with its upcoming TV offering. The launch of the Lenovo smart TV in China is just one of the products that the company has launched in the Chinese market before it is introduced in other international markets outside of China.

The company is expected to use the Idea TV name instead of the Lenovo smart TV brand when the product will be made available in the international market.
