PlayStation Network Writes to Congress in Cyber Attack Latest

It’s been accusations galore since the April 20 cyber attack on the playstation network. The firm has come under intense pressure since it was discovered that the incident it brought to the notice of millions of users on the 26th of April actually take place 6 days earlier. They have however cited wanting to get forensic evidence as a reason for the delay.

It’s too early to pre-empt the reaction of millions of users whose details have been compromised to this assertion. One thing is clear from the current revelations about what really happened to the online gaming network, and that is the fact that the Sony PlayStation network has been is subject of coordinated high-level cyber attack.

The unfortunate incident which is now before the U.S. Congress has been a subject of real heart ache to all concerned. With the details of 25 million users compromised including debit card details names and all the personal details, the Sony PlayStation network is in a really bad mess and it is unclear where this nightmare likely to end.

In a letter to Congress, Sony PlayStation network has stated that cyber attack came at the same time when they were tackling the issue of cyber attack from the known as Anonymous. This group started in 2003 but gained from in prominence when they brought down the web servers of visa, MasterCard, PayPal when they denied financial services to wiki- leaks.

One good aspect of the whole issue is the fact that high level investigation has been set into motion involving the FBI officials which goes to show that the government taking the issue very seriously.

Though the Sony PlayStation network has been able to show that the Anonymous perpetuated some form of attack on their system through the discovery of a file bearing the name “Anonymous,” they are yet to prove that the two events are related.
