Reports have indicated that the upcoming Nokia Lumia 900 will be offered in the market at a price tag of around $100 with a service contract of two years. The report on the possible price of the device was supposedly a part of an AT&T (NYSE:T) road map that was leaked recently.

Stephen Elop, the CEO of Nokia (NYSE:NOK), had earlier indicated that the price of the Nokia Lumia 900 will be competitive during its launch at the recent Consumer Electronics Show. Although the price tag of the Nokia Lumia 900 may not be surprising for entry level devices, the device is not an entry-level smartphone.

The Nokia Lumia 900 will be the pioneering Windows Phone device that will offer 4G LTE support for fast downloads and web surfing. The smartphone also feature the Carl Zeiss optics for its camera which offers an aperture lens of F2.2 and a focal length of 28 millimeter. The smartphone also features a dual LED flash and camera in front.

The Nokia Lumia 900 will also feature a 4.3-inch display screen and internal memory of 16GB. The Nokia Lumia 900 will likely go up against the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the Motorola Droid Bionic, which had an initial price tag of around $299. The latest version of the smartphone offering of Apple, the iPhone 4S, has a price tag of at least $199.

With the reported price tag of around $100 for the Nokia Lumia 900, AT&T and Nokia are sending a message that will not be easy to resist for consumers who may opt to acquire this advanced Nokia smartphone. Some observers are speculating on the number of consumers, who may choose to purchase this feature-packed device, will likely be first-time smartphone users.

The report also indicated that the Nokia Lumia 900 will be released into the market by March 18.

However the limited number of apps may be the major disadvantage of the Nokia Lumia 900 although reports have hinted that some developments were made in providing more apps to the marketplace of Microsoft. The number of apps has reportedly exceeded 50,000 although some more popular apps are not yet available for future users of the Nokia Lumia 900.
