No HTC One X for Verizon

A recent confirmation from HTC (TPE:2498) indicated that Verizon (NYSE:VZ) will not be offering the HTC One Series including the HTC One X since it may be possible for the mobile service provider to focus on the Samsung Galaxy S3. The HTC One X is touted to go up against other high-end Android-powered smartphones in the market as well as the iPhone 4S of Apple. The HTC One X is the first HTC smartphone to feature the Tegra 3 quad-core processor of Nvidia.The latest HTC smartphone also comes with a large screen display, an 8MP camera and the Android 4.0 OS. The features of the HTC One X allow it to become one of the main competitors of the Samsung Galaxy S3.

However the road map of Verizon shows that the company will not be offering the HTC One X this year along with the HTC One S and the HTC One V. The latter two One devices are cheaper compared to that of the HTC One X. The confirmation from HTC that Verizon will not be including the One series of smartphones on its lineup this year comes as reports have indicated that the Samsung Galaxy SIII of Verizon may be released in the US market next month.

The 2011 performance of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus may provide clues on why Verizon will not be offering the HTC One X this year. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus was rather successful for the mobile service provider, which had a semi-exclusive right to the Samsung device.

Reports have given indications that Verizon may be introducing the Samsung Galaxy S3 in the coming month. The reports were based on indications that the dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor of Qualcomm is already being tested on a device that is reportedly similar to the Samsung Galaxy S3.

On the other hand Sprint will be releasing its own version of the HTC One X within the month while AT&T will also be offering the HTC One X at around the same time.

Verizon is expected to release a high-end Android-powered smartphone that offers LTE network support and recent reports have given indications that it will be offering the Samsung Galaxy SIII instead of the HTC One X.
