Reports have recently emerged that the price tag of the iPhone 4S at Wal-Mart (NYSE:WMT) was supposedly reduced. However Wal-Mart has indicated that a pricing error had occurred in a number of its retail outlets. This comes as reports have indicated that some stores are also offering discounts for the iPhone 4S, the flagship smartphone of Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL).
The supposed $114 price tag of the 16GB version of the iPhone 4S was a mistake along with the $34 price cut for the 8GB version of the device. The supposed discounted price tag of the 16GB model of the Apple device is rather far off from its regular $188 price tag at Wal-Mart.

According to Wal-Mart, the error in the price tag of the iPhone 4S was experienced in some of its retail locations. This was in response to inquiries made about the supposed price cut. The issue was already dealt with and the regular prices have already been posted with the $188 for the iPhone 4S and $88 for the iPhone 4.
Some potential buyers of the iPhone started to search for the retail outlets that offered a discounted price for the iPhone 4S. A retail outlet in Edmond, Oklahoma and an Austin Texas retail location were reportedly offering the device at a much smaller price tag. However, other retail outlets did not change the price tag of the iPhone 4S.
Following the statement of Wal-Mart, none of its retail outlets were offering a discounted price tag for the Apple smartphone. Some of the retail locations of Wal-Mart did not even have the iPhone 4S on their store shelves.
The website of Wal-Mart also listed the iPhone 4S at the $188 price tag. However it was also noted that the price may also vary and that the current version of the iPhone may not be available in some of its retail outlets.
