An announcement by Verizon revealed that the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx will enter the market by January 26. Consumers can purchase the most recent smartphone variation of Motorola (NYSE:MMI) at the Verizon (NYSE:VZ) retail outlets and online. The Motorola Droid Razr Maxx will have a price tag that is $100 higher than that of the original Droid Razr at around $300 with the two-year service contract.

It will be necessary for customer to subscribe to the Nationwide Talk plan of Verizon that start at around $40 per month along with a data package that starts at $30 per month if they want to purchase the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx. The latest smartphone from Motorola Will support the LTE network of Verizon.

However some industry watchers have noted that Verizon had indicated that most of the smartphone sales of the service provider consist of Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) smartphones while another report revealed that the iPhone was outperformed by the HTC Thunderbolt when it was launched into the market.

Industry watchers have considered the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx to be one of the highlights at the Consumer Electronics Show although the device is primarily an upgrade of the Motorola Droid Razr.

Despite its similarity in appearance, the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx offers a better battery life compared to the original Motorola Droid Razr as it offers around 21 hours of battery life compared to the original device whose battery life was just under nine hours.

The Motorola Droid Razr Maxx will also feature the Android 2.3.5 OS although the Android 4.0 upgrade will reportedly be released sometime in the second quarter. The Motorola Droid Razr Maxx will also come with an internal storage of 16GB, which can be expanded through the 16GB microSD memory card.

However industry watchers are speculating on whether the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx will give users around ten hours of data streaming using an LTE connection. These speculations emerged following tests on the original device which offered data streaming over an LTE connection of less than four hours.
