The first quarter saw 15 percent among all mobile phone impressions to reach the ad network of Millennial Media came from the Apple iPhone. The Motorola Droid Razr came in third at 4 percent as it trailed the BlackBerry Curve, which placed second. The Droid Charge of Samsung and BlackBerry Torch came in fourth and fifth respectively.

Apple iPhone
The data of Millennial Media was based on the mobile ad and data platform of the company and is collected from billions of ad requests each month. The first quarter saw 300 million unique users for each month with more than 7,000 devices using the network.
Many of the products of Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) including the Apple iPhone and iPad used the network of Millennial Media in the first quarter as it accounted for around 28 percent of all ad impressions in the first quarter. Samsung was the main competitor of the company and the Apple iPhone as it took a market share of around 18 percent.
HTC and Motorola came in third and fourth respectively.
However even though Apple is leading in the market with the Apple iPhone, the iOS platform cannot compete with the Android OS of Google. Nearly half of all add impressions were for Android-powered devices in the first quarter while only a third of the ad impressions were for the iOS of Apple. The BlackBerry OS of Research In Motion came in third.
The market share of Android has increased gradually in the past year as it increased its share of the tablet market.
Even as the Apple iPhone led the number of ad impressions, the Android platform has led the market in terms of the platforms used on mobile devices.
