Even as a patent dispute with Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) has resulted to the delay in the release of the HTC EVO 4G LTE, an email was reportedly sent to customers who had pre-ordered the device giving them a release date for the device. The email indicated that the HTC EVO 4G LTE will be released by May 23.
The email was reportedly sent on the behalf of Best Buy (NYSE:BBY) and it revealed that the HTC EVO 4G LTE will be available by May 23, which is nearly one week after the initial release date of the device. Reports have also given indications that the email in connection to the release of the HTC EVO 4G LTE appears to be genuine.

The upcoming introduction of the HTC EVO 4G became a much-discussed topic following the review made by US Customs on the device together with the HTC One X, which caused a delay in its release. The community bog of Sprint acknowledged the delay on the release of the HTC EVO 4G LTE
However despite the reported email, some industry watchers are still waiting for an official announcement by HTC (TPE:2498) and Sprint (NYSE:S), which have remained mum on the possible release of the two devices. If the email proves to be true, the official announcements on the release date of the HTC EVO 4G LTE may be just around the corner.
Best Buy was among the retailers to initially accept pre-orders for the HTC EVO 4G LTE. This gives an indication that the retailer should have the information on the possible launch date of the device. Some industry watchers have indicated that the nearly one week delay in the launch date of the HTC EVO 4G may not be too long.
It is also important to take into consideration that the new launch date of Best Buy for the HTC EVO 4G LTE may not be the same as that of Sprint although an official announcement will clear up all the issues in connection to the delay.
