Lenovo Android Tablet to Arrive in the US Market by Next Month

Lenovo recently unveiled a pair of 10.1-inch Android tablets and another 10.1-inch tablet which utilizes the Windows 7 OS of Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT). The two Android tablets will utilize the Android 3.1 OS which are going to be promoted for individual consumers and business users.

According to Lenovo, the K1 IdeaPad Android tablet is going to be promoted for individual consumers. The 32GB Wi-Fi version of this tablet PC is currently available for pre-orders online and has a price tag of around $499. However it will arrive in the US market only by next month.

On the other hand the Thinkpad Android tablet is designed mainly for business users and its 16GB Wi-Fi version has a price tag of $479 and when it is bundled with a digitizer touch pen, the price tag will be at $509. This Android tablet is also available for pre-orders and is also expected to reach the US market by August.

Lenovo also added that the 3G version of the Thinkpad Android tablet will be offered into the market later on.

For the moment, the IdeaPad Tablet, which will utilize the Windows 8 OS of Microsoft, will reach the market on the fourth quarter and its projected price is still uncertain as it was not yet been announced by the company. According to Lui Jun of Lenovo, the line-up of tablets of the company, be it Windows-based or the Android tablets, are designed for everybody to use.

Lenovo also indicated that users can play Netflix movies using the Android tablets while all three new tablet PCs will have a resolution of 1280 by 800. The Thinkpad and the K1 Android tablet feature the dual-core Tegra 2 microprocessor from Nvidia while the P1 tablet will utilize the 1.5GHz Intel microchip.

The Thinkpad and the K1 weight lighter than the P1 at 1.65 lbs even though the display screen of all three tablets is the same. The P1 has a weight of around 1.75 lbs since it is somewhat bigger than the two Android tablets.

However the battery life is the main differences among the three devices. The K1 Android tablet can be utilized for ten hours with its two-cell battery while the battery of the ThinkPad will last up to around eight hours only.
