A recent report from a review website revealed that the performance of the Lava Xolo X900 smartphone is reasonable enough in comparison to its competitors in the market. The Lava Xolo X900 is the first smartphone to feature an Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) processor and is attempting to enter a market that is currently filled with numerous devices using ARM chips. The device manufactured by the company based in India will feature the Atom Medfield Z2460 chip of Intel. The Lava Xolo X900 will reportedly be unveiled by the company soon.
According to benchmarks, the Lava Xolo X900 is capable of keeping up with the more popular devices in the market including the HTC One S, the iPhone 4S of Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL), the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx and the Samsung Galaxy S2. Unlike most of its competition that feature dual-core processors, the Intel-powered smartphone comes with a single core processor. However the Lava Xolo X900 comes with the hyper-threading technology that allows it to emulate dual-core chips.
The Lava Xolo X900 is capable of competing with the Cortex A9 with its sufficient battery life and power efficiency. The Intel-powered device is capable of providing a similar performance as the x86 despite its smaller size according to the report.
Even as the Lava Xolo X900 is a competitive device, it may take some time before the Intel chip will be an industry leader in the smartphone market. This means that the next step for Intel is to offer a chip that is capable of leading the industry.
It is expected that Intel intends to increase its presence in the smartphone market when the Lenovo K800 will be unveiled by the company along with the smartphone offering of Motorola (NYSE:MMI) using the same Atom Medfield chip later on in the year. For now the Lava Xolo X900 has revealed that Intel has the capability of going up against the more popular smartphones using the ARM chip.
