Usain Bolt won the 200 meters event at the Lausanne Diamond League with his 19.58-second performance. Following his winning run, Bolt showed his usual effervescence as he performed the air guitar as he was being presented to the crowd. The top three finished the 200 meter event under the twenty-second mark.
On the other hand Yohan Blake was able to equal the third best time as he won the 100 meter event with 9.69 seconds. Kirani James of Grenada also won in the 400 meters while Moutaz Essa Barshim won the high jump, defeating Ivan Ukhov, the Olympics champion.
However a false start disqualified Aries Merritt from the 110-meter hurdles. Bolt appeared pleased with his latest performance even as he revealed that he wanted to end the season without any injuries. Bolt enjoyed the moment and said that when he heard the music, it simply came to him spontaneously.

Blake also improved his personal best time by 0.06 seconds on his way to defeat Nesta Carter and Tyson Gay. The recent performance of Blake has highlighted the possibility that he may defeat Bolt sometime in the future.
Following the disqualification of Merritt, Jason Richardson won the 100-meter hurdles as he won ahead of the pack with 13.08 seconds. Coming in second were David Oliver and Hansle Parchment.
A sluggish start in the 400-meter event for men’s did not stop James from finishing first as he came back strong on the third 100 meters before winning the event with 44.37 seconds. Luguelin Santos of the Dominican Republic came in second. Barshim was able to equal the best performance in the world this year as Ukhov took second place and third place went to Robbie Grabarz.
In the women’s 100 meters, Carmelita Jeter beat Shell-Ann Fraser-Pryce, which was a reversal of the result in London. Halfway through the event, Fraser-Pryce was leading before Jeter surged forward for a photo finish, winning by a few millimeters as the two finished with 10.86 seconds.
The 800-meters women’s event was won by Pamela Jelimo, who defeated Olympic champion Mariya Savinova. Savinova was just behind Jelimo at the final bend before the Kenyan surged ahead, leaving the Russian behind. The triple jump event for women was won by Olga Rypakova, who also won the same event in the Olympics.
