It appears that the Ice Cream Sandwich Android update for the Asus Transformer Prime has not worked quite well for a number of users of the Asus (TPE:2357) device. Some users of the Asus Transformer Prime have revealed that an error in the serial number was display on the device with stopped the installation of the update.
The Ice Cream Sandwich Android update was made available recently by Asus, prior to the release schedule to users in Taiwan and the United States.
However a message from Gary Key, the technical marketing manager of Asus revealed that the company is already working on fixing the problem involving the Android 4.0 update for eth Asus Transformer Prime.
According to Key, the problem with the update is that the latest firmware cannot be update automatically or manually on the tablet. Key indicated that users may be able to do a factor reset on their Asus Transformer Prime units. Then the tablet will have to remain active in order to sync with the servers of the company.
Asus Transformer Prime users can manually update their devices if the automatic update will not come out. However if this will not work, Key indicated that users can send a private message to him which will include the device’s serial numbers.
However it appears that the problem does not end with the failure of the Asus Transformer Prime to be updated since some users who were able to update their devices are also experiencing some issues. Among the issues encountered include a lockup problem and corruption issue following the completion of the Android 4.0 update.
The company was also able to duplicate the problem on the serial key error and is currently working on a fix for the problem. Key revealed that the company will get in touch with the users of the Asus Transformer Prime soon.
The announcement on the upcoming approval of the Ice Cream Sandwich Android update for the Asus Transformer Prime was made by the company last Saturday. The update is set to be released sometime in February however with the current issues encountered, Asus will likely work on making the update done more efficiently as possible.
