Initial Outlook for Nokia Lumia 900 Positive

The flagship smartphone of Nokia (NYSE:NOK), the Nokia Lumia 900, has reportedly topped the bestseller list of Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN), the online retailer revealed through its website recently. The black version was in first place with the blue version coming in second. This is good news for Amazon even as AT&T (NYSE:T) is reportedly preparing to spend around $150 million to promote the Nokia Lumia 900, according to Ad Age.

This budget is more than what the service provider allotted for the Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone. The two versions of the Nokia Lumia 900 are outselling the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx.

Topping the bestseller list of Amazon shows that the latest smartphone offering of Nokia is a positive sign for Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Nokia, which are counting on the sales of the upcoming device to allow them to them to gain a foothold in the United States market.

Although AT&T has not made any statements on its budget for the Nokia Lumia 900, the company aims to be free from being too dependent on the Apple iPhone. The company also aims to take a step away from the iOS and Android, which are currently dominating the market.

Aside from Amazon, consumers can purchase the Nokia Lumia 900 though the website and retail outlets of AT&T. Most of the sales of the Nokia Lumia 900 will be through AT&T while Amazon will only offer a small share of the market. The Nokia Lumia 900 has attracted the attention of a number of potential buyers in the past few months.

A concert that featured Nicki Minaj started the marketing campaign for the Nokia Lumia 900 in Times Square. Numerous Nokia advertisements were seen around Times Square promoting the Nokia Lumia 900. Although sales last Easter Sunday was a bit quiet, pre-orders for the device were reportedly solid according to AT&T.

Topping the bestseller list of Amazon and the solid pre-order sales of the Nokia Lumia 900 gives an indication that the latest Nokia device is off to a good start in the US market.
