It appears that Samsung has nearly finalized the Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 update for the Samsung Galaxy S2 smartphone. According to reports the latest ROM for the smartphone is reportedly smoother, faster and more stable and it may be released by the South Korean company within the quarter.

The latest firmware for the Galaxy S2 is reportedly more stable compared to a previous version. The latest build is also based on the most recent version of the latest Android platform for the HSPA+ international variant.

However it appears that not all users of the Galaxy S2 will welcome the latest software update since they find the user interface of the previous version of the Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 better looking compared to the most recent version. Another Galaxy S2 user also indicated that despite its speed, the Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 without the TouchWiz UI was better compared to this version.

Samsung recently confirmed that the Galaxy S2 and the Galaxy Note will receive the Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 update although it did not reveal the specific release date for the update. It also did not give any indications if the update for the Galaxy S2 will undergo further enhancements.

Even as the existence of the update for the Galaxy S2 was already leaked, no information was available on the update for the Galaxy Note. However it may receive the update by March if Samsung will stick to its plan for its release in the first quarter. A video of an update was leaked last month which showed an update that had a number of issues to deal with.

Even as Galaxy S2 users wait for the release of the Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 update to be released, reports have revealed that the company is also set to release another Android-powered smartphone near the middle of the year, the Samsung Galaxy S3. This device will reportedly be released with a lag between the international and IS release of around one week or one month.
