Even as a number of images were released by Hyundai (SEO:005380) of the i30 Hatchback prior to the introduction of the vehicle at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the company has not released any statements on whether it will be promoted as the 2012 edition of the Hyundai Elantra Touring.
While the press release of the company highlights the fluidic design language of the company, the i30 appears to have some similarity to the 2011 model of the Hyundai Elantra. There are some slight differences between the two vehicles including the new grille insert as well as some differences in the headlamps.
Observers also noted that the i30 may have a shorter tail and a much angular roofline compared to the Hyundai Elantra.
The design of the i30 provides it with a more chic appearance which makes it appear more expensive than it really is. The arrangement and overall design of the dashboard on the i30 is similar to the Hyundai Elantra although the center stack appears to be a new design for the vehicle. Some observers even consider the design and arrangement to be a bit more conservative.
Some of the premium features of the Hyundai Elantra that was released into the US market may have also been brought in to the i30. These features that were offered on the Hyundai Elantra are the navigation system and leather seat covers.
No details about the engine were released by Hyundai although some observers are anticipating a four cylinder diesel and gasoline engines. A number of observers indicated that the 1.4L, 1.6L and the 1.7L engine will also be used on the i30.
While the participants of the Frankfurt Motor Show will be able to check out the i30 during the Frankfurt Motor Show, some observers are speculating on when it will reach the US market. Earlier reports have suggested a new version of the Hyundai Elantra Touring will be released soon. Some speculations were raised on whether the Hyundai Elantra options will be expanded once the i30 enters the US market.
