With the rumors that Facebook is launching a phone in 2013, many wonder how the iPhone 5's sales will be affected since both will have a big challenge to attract teenagers which is a huge market for both companies. It is a known fact that plenty of teenagers using an iPhone will want to upgrade their phones to the latest version which for this year is the iPhone 5.
However, some of them may want to postpone their iPhone upgrade and instead opt for a Facebook phone which rumors say will be launched in the latter part of this year. Although Apple already has a considerable amount of followers, Facebook also has more than 900 million active users.

Recent reports say that Facebook may partner with HTC with their soon to be released smartphone and the project is currently concealed in the codename Buffy. But, there is no hint as to what operating system the Facebook phone will be running since there are many possibilities including the creation of their own OS since they have the resources to do so.
Although it would be great to see another mobile operating system, some think that Facebook will have a better chance to work with the Windows Phone OS rather than Android or the iOS.
It's a known fact that Facebook has made a massive success to several games which can be attributed to their number of users. As such, those who will own the phone of the number one social networking site can be certain that their handset will take advantage of the main features that no other competing phone will share with Google.
Facebook will surely face a big challenge to compete with other phone manufacturers. However, considering that it is the most installed smartphone app, plus the fact that majority of its users are currently going mobile, it is not difficult to believe that a huge portion of smartphone users will be curious to own a phone with the Facebook brand.
