It appears that potential buyers of the Sony PlayStation Vita will be able to have the opportunity to play with a demo unit that will be set up in a local GameStop (NYSE:GME) outlet. Over 3,300 GameStop retail outlets in the United States will display the Sony PlayStation Vita to allow potential buyers to try playing the mobile game console from Sony (NYSE:SNE).
Potential buyers can simply look for the nearest outlet by entering their ZIP code on the Vita webpage of GameStop. It may be necessary to call these outlets and check if they have a unit of the game console available for use. Users will have eight games to play on the Sony PlayStation Vita including Wipeout 2048, Escape Plan, FIFA Soccer, Hotshots Golf, and Little Deviants.
The three other games that potential buyers can play on the Sony PlayStation Vita include Virtua Tennis 4, Modnation Racers, and Uncharted-Golden Abyss.
The Sony PlayStation Vita was initially introduced in the Japanese market last December. It will reportedly be offered in other markets including Europe and North America by February 22 although pre-orders for the device will reportedly be accepted by GameStop on February 15. The pre-ordered Sony PlayStation Vita units can be picked up by the buyers from the nearest outlet by February 22.
Three models of the Sony PlayStation Vita are being offered by GameStop, the Wi-Fi only model, WI-Fi /3G model and the bundled model that comes with a case, free game and other add-ons with a price tag of $249, $299 and $349 respectively.
GameStop is also offering buyers of the Sony PlayStation Vita a discount of $25 if they will trade-in a unit of the Nintendo DS, the Nintendo 3DS or the Sony PSP. The Sony PlayStation Vita will feature a five-inch OLED multi-touchscreen, touch pads in front and the rear, dual analog joysticks, a motion-system system and dual cameras.
