Comparing the Nokia Lumia 900 with the Samsung Galaxy S3

The Nokia Lumia 900 was released into the market recently and it enjoyed some amount of success following reports of solid sales after it entered the market. However with the upcoming release of the Samsung Galaxy S3, some industry watchers have compared the features of the Nokia (NYSE:NOK) device with one of the most awaited Android-powered devices in the market.

The Nokia Lumia 900 features a 1.4GHz single-core Snapdragon processor with a 512MB RAM.

In comparison, the US version of upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3 will reportedly feature a dual-core Snapdragon processor since the quad-core Eynos processor is not compatible with the 4G LTE network of AT&T (NYSE:T) and Verizon (NYSE:VZ).

The dual-core processor of the Samsung Galaxy S3 has the advantage over the Nokia Lumia 900, which only features a single-core processor.

In terms of the display of the two devices, the 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD display with a 306 PPI of the Samsung Galaxy S3 is considered superior to the Nokia Lumia 900, whose 4.3-inch display only offers a 217 PPI. However the live colors, bigger text and tiles on the Nokia Lumia 900 appear to hide the pixels on the display.

Both the Nokia Lumia 900 and the Samsung Galaxy S3 feature an 8MP camera at the back which makes the two devices equal in this particular feature.

The battery life is another feature that users like to take into consideration when they purchase a smartphone. The Nokia Lumia 900 features an 1830 mAh battery, which reportedly offers a longer battery life compared to other LTE-enable devices. The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3 will feature a 2100 mAh battery although reports have hinted at a bigger battery for the US version due to its LTE capability.

When it comes to the platform, the Android platform used on the Samsung Galaxy SIII supports more apps compared to the Windows Phone OS of the Nokia Lumia 900.

For the moment, the Nokia Lumia 900 is being exclusively offered by AT&T while the Samsung Galaxy S3 will reportedly be offered through the four major carriers in the US market. This means that the Samsung Galaxy S3 offers more choices for consumers who are still deciding on which device to purchase.

Some industry watchers have indicated that the Nokia Lumia 900 should be offered through more carriers to allow it to compete with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3.
