A few hours after donning the Dodgers uniform, Adrian Gonzales hit a homerun on his very first at-bat as a member of the Los Angeles baseball team. He was one of four players that were acquired through a blockbuster deal between the Dodgers and the Boston Red Sox that involved a total of nine players. Gonzales, along with John Beckett, Carl Crawford, and Nick Punto were sent to LA. In return, Boston got James Loney, Allen Webster, Ivan DeJesus Jr. and two other still unnamed players.

Following his winning run, Bolt showed his usual effervescence as he performed the air guitar as he was being presented to the crowd. After a four-year wait, Sergio Garcia finally copped a victory at the Wyndham Championship last Monday in North Carolina. This gave the Spanish golfer a spot on the Ryder Cup team of Europe. Play was stopped at Sedgefield Country Club due to thunderstorms. At this point Garcia held a one-shot lead after only four holes. However he ended with a four-under-66 during the last round, giving Garcia a total of 18-under, which was two shots ahead of Tim Clark.
