It appears that the issue affecting the BlackBerry Bold 9900 of Research In Motion (NASDAQ:RIMM) has yet to be addressed. Some owners of the device have reportedly experienced a bricking of their smartphone whenever the handset is charged overnight after its battery life has already gone down to under ten percent. Reports have indicated that leaving the BlackBerry Bold 9900 to charge overnight will result to the permanent bricking of the smartphone.

This problem has reportedly existed since the BlackBerry Bold 9900 was initially offered into the market late last year. A number of industry watchers have noted this issue since late last year.

RIM has reportedly acknowledged the issue that has been experienced by a number of owners of this smartphone, which does not turn on after the overnight charging. However the company indicated that the issue was limited to certain number of owners of the BlackBerry Bold 9900.

RIM reportedly promised to release a fix to deal with this issue that has affected the smartphone. Although a fix was reportedly issued to deal with the issue, it did not take care of the entire bug since a number of users of the BlackBerry Bold 9900 still experienced the bricking of their devices even after these were updated already.

It also appears that the OS7.1 upgrade has not dealt with the issue as well. The issue that has affected the BlackBerry Bold 9900 is also being experienced by the BlackBerry Bold 9930, which is the CDMA model of the 9000. This issue has already disappointed a number of users of the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and the response by RIM was reportedly unacceptable for some industry watchers.

The fact that the device was being promoted for business users has not made it more necessary for RIM to find a solution to the issue affecting the BlackBerry Bold 9900.
