The March 7 event will be held in San Francisco, at the same venue where a number of products were launched by Apple in the past years. Following the release of the invitations, reports on the possible introduction of the Apple TV also emerged.
The Apple TV reportedly has a codename, J33, according to sources of the report. The device will reportedly be a full-scale television instead of the current set-top boxes that are being sold by the company. The device will reportedly feature the dual-core A5 microprocessor of Apple that is capable of streaming 1080p videos.
Earlier reports have hinted at the possibility that iOS devices such as the iPad can be used as a remote control for the Apple TV. Recent reports have also pointed to the supposed preparation of retail partners of the company for the introduction of an HD TV that will utilize the iOS of Apple and integrates the Siri feature of the iPhone 4S. The supposed new Apple TV will reportedly have a price tag of around $1500.
Last month saw a survey where one of the questions pertained to a new Apple HDTV which has the capability of linking with iTunes, iCloud, and the App Store of Apple. Following the survey reports indicated that the two biggest telecom companies in Canada were reportedly testing the latest version of the Apple TV.
With the integration of Siri into the supposed Apple TV, it may be possible for the device to be controlled through voice commands. For the moment Apple has not released any statements in connection to the reports on the possible release of the next version of the Apple TV in the coming week.
