Apple Starts Placing Orders for the iPhone 5 Displays

A recent report has hinted that Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) may use a bigger display for the upcoming iPhone 5, which is set to be released within the year. It was indicated that a 4.6-inch display will be used for the next version of the smartphone offering of the company. It also appears that the company was already beginning to place orders for the displays that will be used on the upcoming iPhone 5. This was supposedly revealed by an anonymous source within the industry.

The supposed 4.6-inch screen display that will be used on the iPhone 5 is similar to the display screens used on the upcoming HTC One as well as the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. The display on the latter device from Samsung has a resolution of 316ppi. The supposed 4.6-inch display of the upcoming iPhone 5 will reportedly be sharper compared to the previous versions of the device.

The iPhone of Apple initially entered the market in 2007 and used a touchscreen that is currently being used by its competitors in the market. However no statements were issued by Samsung and LG Display (NYSE:LPL) in connection to the reported bigger screen display for the upcoming iPhone 5. Samsung and LG Display are the main suppliers of the display for the products of Apple.

The high definition display that will supposedly be used on the iPhone 5 is similar to the one used on the recently-released version of the iPad of Apple.

This is not the first time that reports on a possible bigger display for the iPhone 5 have emerged since previous reports have also suggested that the company was supposedly considering the use of a bigger-sized display for the upcoming device.

However some observers have doubts on the accuracy of the reports on the bigger screen display of the iPhone 5 due to some inconsistencies that were noted in the reports particularly the size of the display on the Galaxy Nexus.
