A recent post on the support forums of Sony (NYSE:SNE) hinted at the upcoming released of the Android 4.0 update for the Sony Xperia S near the end of May or at the start of June. A member of the support team of Sony reportedly indicated that the Android 4.0 update will be released to the Sony Xperia S in the later part of May or the early part of June. This statement was made in response to a previous post on the forum.
The support team member added that the company will be stand by this statements and any other dates that were reported on the upcoming Android 4.0 update for the Sony Xperia S are mere speculations.
The recent statement on the support forum of Sony indicates that owners of the Sony Xperia S will have to wait for a few more weeks before they will receive the Android 4.0 update for their devices. The report is a welcome change for the company since it launched its latest flagship device using the older version of the Android OS of Google (NASDAQ:GOOG).

Android 4.0
Sony had indicated earlier that the release of the Android 4.0 update for the devices such as the Sony Xperia S will be gradual so it may take some time before users will receive it for their devices. Some of the Sony Xperia S units may receive the Android 4.0 update by the end of the month while others may received it near the middle of next month.
A video was released earlier that showed the Sony Xperia s using the beta version of the latest Android OS, which would give users an idea on what the Android 4.0 update will bring to their devices.
Even as Sony had indicated earlier that all of the 2011 Xperia smartphones will be receiving the Android 4.0 update, the company also revealed that users may opt to stay with the older version of the Android OS since it is reportedly a very stable OS.
