Sony (NYSE:SNE) recently announced that it releasing the Android 4.0 update to the Sony Tablet S. The Sony Tablet S features a 9.4-inch display screen and offers a number of Sony services including Music Unlimited. According to the company, users of the tablet will receive a prompt telling them of the system software update for their Sony Tablet S units once they connect their devices into a Wi-Fi network.
Aside from the Android 4.0 update, users of the tablet will also be able to access their SD memory card directly due to the software update for the device. The lock screen on the Sony Tablet S will also be enhanced to facilitate access to notifications. A number of features will be added into the Sony Tablet S due to the Android 4.0 update. Among the features that users will be able to use are the ability to create folders by simply dragging icons together and a panorama camera mode support.
The Sony Tablet S was released into the market last year and it featured the Honeycomb Android 3.0 operating system. The company revealed last December that it will be releasing the Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 update for the device. The company also indicated last month that the update for the Sony Tablet S will be launched in April.
Aside from the software update for the Sony Tablet S, the company also revealed that a $50 instant rebate will be offered for the tablet. The rebate for the tablet offering of Sony will be available until May 12. In addition to the instant rebate, the company also revealed that it will also offer a free cradle accessory for the device.
The discount for the Sony Tablet S will mean that the 16GB model of the device will be sold at a price tag of $349. On the other hand the 32GB model of the tablet offering of Sony will be priced at $449.
