A Surprising Speculation for iPhone 5: The Micro Projector

Although some speculations about the iPhone 5 are realistic and even predictable, other speculations come as a complete surprise. Now, there are speculations that Apple will make a micro projector for the iPhone 5, but it is important to note that this is merely a speculation at the moment and has not been officially confirmed by Apple. While many are most likely surprised by this, it is not a weird concept considering the fact that Apple is known for constantly surprising the public with every new iPhone release.

The speculation originated from people at MobileMag who found out that an LED projector is being developed by researchers in Fraunhofer. MobileMag said that an LED projector might sooner or later be integrated into a smartphone such as the upcoming iPhone 5 or possible a future model of the iPhone.

The Fraunhofer research group said that the LED projector works by simply projecting photos or whatever is in the screen onto a wall or surface. It works almost the same as the usual projector but the difference is that users can in fact interact with the projected image. In other words, users can tap on the image just like the normal, and the effect will be the same as it would on the iPhone 5’s screen.

According to Marcel Sieler, a researcher from Fraunhofer, said that the technology used for the LED projector, array projection, is developed from nature, specifically from the complex eye of a few insects. Basically, there are microprojectors in array, every one of which projects an entire image.

However, it is worth mentioning that the array projection technology is to a certain extent not yet set for worldwide production. But it is still likely that Apple can pull off an iPhone 5 integrated with the LED projection technology. Also, as what Apple wants every iPhone release, the latest technology will definitely be a hit.
